School Delays/Cancellation

Please be advised that MSAD #56, in conjunction with MSAD #3 and MSAD #34, will be looking at the possibility of delaying the opening of school by an hour if it is reasonably possible that the weather will have improved enough to send buses over the roads.

The three area superintendents understand that predicting the weather is not an easy thing to do. But going to school in the latter part of June is not a desirable outcome either.

Parents having questions about this procedure are encouraged to contact the MSAD #56 Superintendent's office at 548-6643.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

School cancellation information is available by listening to:

89.9, 92.9, 94.5, 95.7, 97.1, 99.1, 101.3, 102.5, 103.3, 104.7, 106.5, 107.3, and also on Channels 2, 5, and 7.

The Four Year Old Program in MSAD #56

Did you know that our district provides a Four Year Old Program for students who turn four on or before October 15 of any given school year? It is a public pre-school program that runs from noon to 3 PM four days a week. There are two classrooms, one at the Searsport Elementary School, and one at the Searsport Head Start building. The program is open to students from Frankfort, Searsport, and Stockton Springs.

MSAD #56 collaborates with Waldo County Preschool and Family Services to provide certified teachers for the program. Waldo County Preschool and Family Services is the recipient of a nationally awarded Early Reading First Grant which brings experts in language development and early literacy to our classrooms to assist teachers in developing comprehensive programs that actively engage children.

Students can be enrolled by calling Linda Baker at Waldo County Preschool and Family Services at 338-2200. Participation in the Four Year Old Program provides a seamless transition to our kindergarten program.
