Employee Awards

In 1989 a committee was formed to establish criteria and to develop a process for annually recognizing District employees for outstanding performance. These awards are traditionally presented at the Opening Day Workshop for a new school year.

The Selection process:

(1) District employees submit nominations of colleagues to receive these awards. There is no limit on the number of nominations that an individual may submit.
(2) All nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee. The selection committee is comprised of last year's recipients and four members of the administrative team.

Award Categories:

Outstanding District Employee: This award is presented to one employee who has consistently demonstrated excellence in job performance and who is constantly working for the betterment of the school district. All district employees except teachers are eligible for this award. (Examples: educational technicians, bus drivers, custodians, cooks, study hall monitor, secretaries, and any other district employees who are ineligible for the teacher awards.)

Outstanding Classroom Teacher: This award is presented to one K-5 and one 6-12 classroom teacher who has consistently demonstrated excellence in classroom instruction. Itinerant and special services teachers are eligible for these awards and should be listed under either the elementary or secondary classification.

MSAD #56 Service Award: This award will be presented to an individual who is constantly working for the betterment of the school district. The individual who receives this award should demonstrate service to the district outside of their regular job description. All District employees are eligible for this award.
