CREATIVE WRITING LaRosa
Develop your writing abilities and
your potential to be published. Explore
the elements of fiction and non-fiction while writing poetry, short stories and
memoirs. Writing assignments will be
evaluated and critiqued. The instructor has taught writing to both University
and Community College students and is currently a free lance journalist.

DRAWING FUNDAMENTALS

This class is an introduction to drawing/wash drawing
mediums, what they do and how to use them.
Learn how to build a scale, add light, dark and highlights, and create a
sense of volume. This class will include
composition, picture design, and a low-stress introduction to understanding
perspective. The exercises are designed to give the satisfaction of
accomplishment to the participants. A
materials list will be provided by the instructor at the first session.

Drawing the Human Form / Wash Drawing*
Learn overview, proportions, weight bearing, vertical and
horizontal reference points, measuring, and working with light and dark. Working with sculpture and other substitutes
for live modeling, learn to measure for overall proportion, foreshortening,
gestures, center of gravity, balance, and general and specific characteristics
of the human anatomy. *

Drawing from Nature: A Naturalist’s Orientation*
Record observations using sketching, drawing and wash. This is a good introductory unit for
naturalists, environmentally or ecologically oriented groups and individuals
who would like to learn how to effectively communicate their observations. Three lessons will be classroom based, and
the fourth will be in the field. *

This three part class will teach the basics of matting,
framing and glazing. Work with your
personal project, finishing with a hands-on evening when you put it all
together yourself! Projects should
measure a maximum of 8 x 10, and the instructor will provide a selection of

T’AI CHI Morin
T’ai Chi Chuan is the centuries-old Chinese art of
meditation in motion. It promotes
mental, emotional and physical health by combining rhythmic movement,
meditation and relaxation. It is an
excellent exercise to promote balance, coordination, flexibility, concentration
and patience. The ultimate in no-impact
aerobics, T’ai Chi increases blood flow throughout the entire body, keeps
joints flexible, and restores, elasticity to muscles. The T’ai Chi form resembles a slow-motion
dance where the practitioner seems to be floating. Learn a Hwa-Yu sampler form. Students continuing from previous sessions
will expand their earlier work and be introduced to the Short Form. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing.

TRACKING WILDLIFE: FOOTPRINTS
IN THE SNOW Vistein
Enjoy tracking the activities of wildlife, learning how
different animals use their habitat, interact with each other, find their food
and survive in the winter. Tracking opens up a whole new way of ‘seeing’ the
wildlife that share the land with us. Dress warmly with appropriate footwear,
as we will spend the entire class outdoors.
Items to bring: Pencil, notebook, tape measure, and camera
(optional). Recommended reading:
